That Informal Outlook on Life

What started out as two British lads, creating tee shirts on a French ski mountain has snow balled ( sorry, I couldn’t help myself), into a global lifestyle clothing brand called White Stuff. And we all thought it was just a silly, meaningless name. So for the past 35 years, White Stuff has honed their personality and zest for life in everything they touch.

Then low and behold, three years ago, they decide to export to Canada. At Fabrications, the buzz was immediate. We couldn’t believe our luck in finding a brand that had enduring principals of “to be better, to be different and to be original”.

WS house designers create distinctive patterns that are conversation pieces, sometimes unconventional and well, let’s just say, very British.

So how do you define that Britishness? Well it’s that relationship and connection to country life, flowers, animals and prints. Yes, sometimes ridiculous prints. Why are we, as grown women so drawn to a blouse with cats on? Granted you must love cats to want to purchase, let alone wear it, but it’s really all about delight. And never taking ourselves too seriously. And how can you, when you have that cat blouse on right?!

It’s giving ourselves permission, as grown ups, to still feel delight, that we once felt as children.

White Stuff is a clothing brand that pays such attention to heartfelt details. A little velvet trim, in a contrasting colour, sewn into the nape of the neck. Odd buttons on cardigans and blouses; some coloured, different shapes. Details like your favourite auntie put on that one treasured piece of clothing she made you. And sometimes the details are not visible whilst wearing, so it’s really just a little feel good for you, every time you wear it.

So it seems very fitting that I let you into the White Stuff world, for our first Fab blog. It’s a brand very close to my heart, just like so many of our customers.

And yes, as a matter of fact, I do own a cat blouse! And geese socks and ….well, now you know.
